This Privacy Policy explains how Match My Pace collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data when you use the Match My Pace mobile app, website, and related services.

2. Data We Collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
- Account data, such as your email address, authentication ID, and account status.
- Profile data, such as your name, date of birth, age, gender, sports, training level, training frequency, training pace or goals, match preferences, bio, personal bests, profile photos, and optional social media links.
- Location data, such as your latitude and longitude, so we can show nearby profiles and distance-based discovery results.
- Interaction data, such as swipes, likes, matches, messages, message reactions, read status, workout invites, reports, and blocks.
- Photo data, including profile photos and photos you choose to send in chat.
- Notification data, such as a push notification token, if notifications are enabled.
- Support data, such as messages you send to us by email.
3. How We Use Data
We use your data to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Build your profile and show it to relevant users.
- Show nearby profiles based on distance, age range, sports, intentions, and preferences.
- Enable swiping, matching, chat, workout invites, reactions, and photo sharing.
- Send notifications about matches, messages, and workout activity.
- Support safety features, including report, block, unmatch, and moderation workflows.
- Respond to support requests and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Data Visible to Other Users
Other users may see your public profile information, including your name, age, photos, sports, bio, personal bests, intentions, and distance-based information. Your exact location is not shown to other users.
Your optional social links are visible only when you choose to show them and only to users you have matched with. Users you match with may see messages, photos, workout invites, and reactions you send in chat.
5. Location
Match My Pace uses location to help show people nearby. We do not provide live tracking to other users. Distance is used for discovery and matching features. You can disable location permissions in your device settings, but nearby discovery may not work correctly.
6. Reports, Blocks, and Safety
If you report or block another user, we store information needed to process that action. Blocking and reporting can hide users from each other, remove matches, and help us review safety concerns. We may keep report and safety records for longer when reasonably needed to protect users, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations.
7. Service Providers
We use service providers to operate the app, including backend hosting, authentication, database, storage, email, and push notification infrastructure. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to us.
These may include Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage; Expo and Apple services for app delivery and push notifications; Cloudflare for website hosting, DNS, and security; GitHub for website code hosting and deployment; and email providers used to send or receive support messages.
We do not sell your personal data.
8. Data Retention
We keep personal data for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain safety, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms. If you delete your account, we aim to delete or anonymize your profile, photos, matches, swipes, messages, and related account data, except where retention is required for legal, security, or safety reasons.
9. Account Deletion
You can request deletion directly in the app by going to Settings and choosing Delete Account. You can also contact hello@matchmypace.xyz.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, including if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to, or restrict the use of your personal data. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. Legal Bases
Where privacy law requires a legal basis, we process personal data to provide the service you request, based on your consent, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as safety, abuse prevention, app security, and service improvement.
12. Children
Match My Pace is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe someone under 18 is using the app, contact us.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. International Use
Your data may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
15. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify users.
